Rabbits abandoned in park are saved!

Recently, we rescued multiple rabbits who had been abandoned outside in two different parks. Sadly, domestic rabbit don’t have the ability to fend for themselves outside. They are not like wild cottontails or jackrabbits that are born with instincts to care for themselves. Domestic rabbits end up starving to death, killed by predators or hit by cars. A domestic rabbit should NEVER be abandoned outside.

Peppermint was not only starving and covered in fleas when she was found but she was also injured. We had to rush her to an after hours emergency Vet hospital for medical care. She had injuries to her nose and her front foot. She is currently recovering in foster care. Sweet Peppermint is relived she is indoors and doesn’t have to worry about starving.

Mistletoe was starving and suffering from head tilt. Emergency Veterinary care was sought and he is currently in foster care being treated for encephalitozoon Cuniculi. Faith was found not only starving, but with a large abscess on her back and an upper respiratory infection. She was also pregnant. Fortunately, we were able to rescue her before she gave birth to two kits on January 2nd, 2021.

Gingerbread was found outside starving. He is a very sweet Lionhead bunny whose currently in foster care receiving a lot of TLC.

There are two other rabbits that are currently at the shelter that we would like to rescue ASAP who were abandoned outside. If you have a rabbit that you can no longer keep, DO NOT abandon the rabbit outside, please take the rabbit to local animal shelter. Rabbit rescue organizations rescue from shelters.
